About “Valleys of Neptune ”

Valleys of Neptune is one of the many compilation albums following Jimi Hendrix’s death in 1970.

The album is considered more unique than its predecessors, most likely due to the fact that the majority of it was produced by Jimi himself. He also handled many of the instruments such as the keys on “Bleeding Heart”, and bass on the title track.

Many of the songs included on this album were recorded in 1969 following Electric Ladyland. However, they weren’t pushed by his label. In retaliation, Hendrix recorded the live album Band of Gypsys, which featured an entirely different line-up compared to his studio albums.

Tracks from the album also appeared on Lifelines: The Jimi Hendrix Story box set in 1990, 20 years before its initial release.

His sister spoke on the album in a Rolling Stones interview:
