Mind Games

John Lennon

About “Mind Games”

In 1973, John and Yoko moved to the Dakota building that was in the same city they had lived in since 1971 in New York. A few months after the change John and Yoko decided to separate. After writing the songs for the album, John started the recordings and started dating his assistant, May Pang, with the approval of Yoko Ono. During the recordings, John and May decided to leave for Los Angeles for the weekend that John called the “lost weekend” (which lasted eighteen months).

Mind games play with a person’s psyche. In this case, John lennon suggests using tactics for pacifist purposes, influencing people to envision a positive future. Ideologically suggesting an army of civilians, which he calls minded guerrillas, the people would become if they used tactics.
