About “GHV2”

GHV2 is Madonna’s second greatest hits album. A follow up to The Immaculate Collection (1990), this album gathers hits from the second decade of Madonna’s career. Released on the same day as the Drowned World Tour DVD, GHV2 did not contain any new songs; however, a promotional single called “GHV2 Megamix”, remixed by Thunderpuss, was released.

Having received generally positive reviews from music critics, the album peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum in the US by RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). With more than 7 million copies sold worldwide, GHV2 was the 14th best-selling album of the year and reached the top-five in several European countries.

“GHV2” Q&A

  • Translations:

  • Why was the album called "GHV2"?

Because it’s to the point. We went through catchy titles, funny titles and witty titles and things like that, but at the end of the day I thought it was really modern and succinct and to the point.

  • Why were "This Used to Be My Playground" and "Fever" not included on the album?

Oh, I like ‘Fever’ alright. But the thing is they had to have listening power for me. I had to be able to listen to them five times in a row and think this is really good, this is a well written song, it’s really well produced. I can honestly say not all my songs have been, some are better than others, that’s all there is to it. So the ones that I thought really stood the test of time, in terms of well written, well produced, well sung, those are the ones that made it.
