Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death)

Marilyn Manson

About “Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death)”

Holy Wood (In The Shadow of The Valley of Death) is the fourth studio album by the American rock band Marilyn Manson. At this time, the band is made up of Marilyn Manson, Twiggy Ramirez, John 5, Madonna “Pogo” Wayne Gacy, and Ginger Fish.

It is the third and final album in the trilogy known as “The Triptych,” following Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals.

It was the band’s first album released since being blamed for the Columbine massacre in 1999. The band’s lead singer, Marilyn Manson described the album as a “declaration of war.”

Holy Wood is a concept album, taking place in a satire of modern America called “Holy Wood,” which Manson describes as being “similar to Disney World.”

I thought of how interesting it would be if we created an entire city that was an amusement park, and the thing we were being amused by was violence and sex and everything that people really want to see.

The album was released in 2000 by Nothing and Interscope Records and was supported by the 2000/01 Gods Guns and Government Tour. The album spawned three singles (Disposable Teens, The Fight Song, and The Nobodies,) and a film project, that was never finished or released, which was then later changed to two books, one of which was due for release in spring of 2001, althought neither were ever actually released. A short film titled Autopsy can be viewed by running a start.exe program when playing the CD in a computer.
