The Sexual Healing Sessions

To mark Midnight Love’s 15 year anniversary, CBS Records released this deluxe edition which sheds light on Marvin Gaye’s creative process. The sessions feature alternate versions of each Midnight Love track including the isolated vocals from “Sexual Healing” and “I’ve Got My Music”, the original version of “Turn On Some Music”.

“I Bet You Wonder” sees Marvin dabble in French while the alternate mix of “Turn On Some Music” is distinctly less sexual and more intimately related to Marvin’s personal demons and music’s healing powers. “Third World Girl” gets a spin at a slower RPM, deepening Marvin’s vocals and better highlighting the instrumentals' Caribbean twang.
