Palomino is the ninth studio album by American country music singer Miranda Lambert, consisting of fifteen tracks that take you on a roadtrip to 36 different places across the United States.
Dubbed “a scattershot travelogue” by Pitchfork, its tracklist includes three songs – “In His Arms”, “Geraldine” and “Waxahachie” – that Lambert re-recorded from her previous collaboration album, The Marfa Tapes, with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, giving the stripped back, acoustic songs a more buzzier sound.
Lambert also collaborated with the B-52’s for “Music City Queen” and covered Mick Jagger’s 1993 song “Wandering Spirit” for the album.
Palomino is essenitally a feel-good road album that introduces you to countless characters along the way, including a hippie named Katie, a chicken egg queen named Carol Jean, a trucker named Dwayne, and a former circus performer named Elaina. It’s a powerful, pulls-no-punches journey that sees Lambert going her own way, as always.
