I Am Not a Dog on a Chain

The Smith’s front man’s 13th solo studio album contains many experimental songs which play with new sounds not seen much throughout Morrissey’s discography. ‘I am Not a Dog on a Chain’ follows the cover album ‘California Son’ which released in 2019 to a middling reception.
The album was produced by Grammy award winning Joe Chiccarelli and recorded in both France and Hollywood. Chiccarelli said the album was Morrissey’s “boldest and most adventurous album yet”. The album’s title is one that harkens to Morrissey’s reputation of doing what he wants and not following the trends.
