Kill Uncle

Morrissey

About “Kill Uncle”

Kill Uncle is Morrissey’s second solo studio album. The album was recorded during Morrissey’s transitional phase, resulting in the album sounding relatively unconventional, subsequently garnering mixed reviews from critics.

Morrissey himself disliked the album, stating:

I do openly admit that some of the songs, some of the solo songs have been substandard. And when it occurred to me, around the period of the Kill Uncle album, it was a great shock to me to actually make a few records which I didn’t really think were exceptional for me. But I think I’m through that time now. It was actually a very bad time for me privately, also.

While the album is adored by some and lambasted by others, it is generally agreed upon that Kill Uncle is Morrissey’s most unconventional album. The album employed upbeat tunes alongside ironic and insincere lyrics, making a quirky and whimsical sound overall.

The album was re-released in 2013 with a revised tracklist and two additional tracks added.
