In 2007, Island records released Family Tree, comprised of 29 home recordings by Nick Drake and some of his family. Although most of the songs have been circulated on bootlegs (look up Nick Drake, Second Grace), this was the first time these recordings saw an official release. More than half of the songs are covers of traditional and folk standards, reflecting Drake’s influences in the likes of Bert Jansch and Jackson C. Frank. Two songs, “Poor Mum” and “Do You Ever Remember” were written and played by his mother, Molly Drake, perhaps the most influential figure in Drake’s life.
