About “Oasis (Demo)”

Recorded in early 1993, this demo tape was made before Oasis' rise to fame, with the intent to attract record companys. It’s often referred to as ‘Live Demonstration’, since the spine of the original read ‘Oasis Live’.

Produced and recorded by long-time collaborator Mark Coyle, it was their first professional studio recording, done with help from members of fellow band The Real People, who allowed the group to use their studio and taught them about the recording process. Six of the tracks were taped in said studio, while ’D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman?‘ and 'Married With Children’ were recorded at Coyle’s home. Only about ten copies were ever made, which were all sent out to labels and helped the band garner a deal with Creation Records.

All of the songs except ‘Strange Thing’ would later be re-recorded for the bands debut album or released as b-sides. The tape was remastered and reissued in 2014 as part of the re-release of Definitely Maybe, but only in very limited capacity.
