Owl City’s fourth studio album contained several hits, and peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 200 Album chart. The lead single, “Good Time,” which featured Carly Rae Jepsen, peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Shooting Star,” which was originally set to be the lead single, reached #36 on the Hot Christian Songs chart and #39 on the Adult Pop Songs chart.
This album also marks the first time Adam Young, the man behind Owl City, collaborated with other songwriters.
An acoustic version of the album was released on the 30th of July, nearly one year after the original album.
According to Songfacts, Young said:
[I] grew up listening to dance music and I’ve always wanted to make a dance record. European dance music has so much influence over pop right now, so it made sense to me. I admire a lot of the great trance DJs of the past ten years, guys like Armin van Buuren, ATB, Above & Beyond, Tiësto, and Ferry Corsten.
