Cricket and Clover

Panic! at the Disco

About “Cricket and Clover”

Cricket and Clover was a scrapped album, replaced with Pretty. Odd. It is more known as the “Cabin Album”.

After they finished touring for A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, Panic! at the Disco rented a cabin in the Nevada mountains, and soon got lonely from being separated from anybody else. They didn’t seem to get any real work done.

They decided to make Cricket and Clover a story – with each song leading into the next. However, the album was soon scrapped. Only 5 songs are
known to be for Cricket and Clover.

In an interview with MTV, Ryan Ross described the songs from the album with phrases such as

film score,
complicated and challenging
love story

One of the songs, Nearly Witches, was used for Vices & Virtues.

On October 6th, 2018, former bassist Jon Walker tweeted that his dad found three Cricket & Clover demos on a CD. Later, he was also able to find 14 demos though these are not stated to be from Cricket & Clover. Unfortunately, Jon does not have the rights to leak the demos as of now and said to “write the powers that be if you want to hear them.”

According to Fueled By Ramen and the 288th issue of Alternative Press, the name of the unreleased album is Cricked and Clover, not Cricket and Clover. Also, it was going to be co-produced by Rob Mathes and Kevin Augunus, not by just Rob Mathes.

“Cricket and Clover” Q&A

  • Is there any audio footage of the untitled tracks?

Unfortunately, none of the leaked ‘cabin snippets’ seem to match the lyrics of this piece. However, parts of Cricket & Clover can be heard in d'Fused’s 2008 Pretty. Odd. documentary, giving us a taste of what it might have sounded like.
