About “Kasvot Växt: í rokk (Live)”

í rokk is ostensibly the only album from Scandinavian prog rock band Kasvot Växt, and received some airplay upon its release in 1981 before fading into obscurity. On October 31, 2018, Phish covered the entire album as part of their Halloween concert tradition. As it turns out, the album never existed; the band “covered” arrangements that they had written themselves. They enlisted the help of All Music, Perfect Sound Forever, and the New Jersey radio station WFMU to create apparent internet archives of the album and band’s existence. Fans deciphered this on their own, and there was never any announcement from the band debriefing the situation. Songs from í rokk have now made their way into Phish’s usual concert rotation.
