About “Different Class”

Different Class is the fifth album by Pulp. It was released in 1995, at the peak of the Britpop movement, and transformed them into an essential part of the British musical scene. This record received a stellar reception from critics, and it has grown to be recognised not only as one of the most iconic albums of Britpop, but as one of the best albums ever released. “Different Class” was awarded the Mercury Music Prize in 1996.

The album has a sleeve note which explains the title rather well : “Please understand – we don’t want no trouble. We just want the right to be different. That’s all.”
