Von

Sigur Rós

About “Von”

“Von” is Sigur Rós' debut album, after many reworks and even at a point where the band had wanted to scrap the album, it was released in 1997, in their 2 years of effort from 1995. “Von” first introduces the made-up language of Sigur Rós' “Hopelandic”.

Initially released exclusively in Iceland it sold around 300 copies, it would later receive success as the band became more well-known internationally with the release of the following two albums, being certified platinum.

Remaining the longest Sigur Rós album, (if you don’t count Route One (24hr Version)), it lays the groundwork for Sigur Rós & later songs being re-recorded for Hvarf/Helm (Von & Hafssól)
