Simon and Garfunkel’s Greatest Hits was a compilation album released shortly after the duo’s break-up in 1971.
The album was not a greatest hits collection in the standard sense; Six of the duo’s hit singles were not included on the album. Instead, the album included four previously unreleased live tracks, as well as two tracks that had only been released as album cuts.
The release was a massive international hit, charting in the Top Ten in nine different countries.
“Greatest Hits” has sold over 14-million copies in the United States alone, making it the biggest selling album by a duo in U.S. history.
In 2003, Rolling Stone Magazine named the album one of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
