Bells

Bells EP is the debut solo music project by former-From First to Last frontman Sonny Moore. This EP was sent to Atlantic Records in hopes of a record deal. Several demo versions of songs that were later finalized are featured throughout this project.

Bells was unofficially released as a CDR in 2007 and could only be purchased from Sonny himself after performances. Original buyers claim that the hand-drawn 8.5x11" envelope it was packed in came with a sticker and a pin.

Many consider this EP a point of transition for Sonny as it combines his signature harsh industrial elements (heard in his Skrillex material) with laid-back instruments and vocals. Additional production is often credited to Noah Shain.

The track “Equinox” was manipulated for usage on Sonny’s 2011 mega-hit “First Of The Year (Equinox),” and the track Signal was interpolated in Sonny’s collaboration track with 12th Planet “Needed Change.” Copaface is the title of Sonny’s publishing company.

Prior to the release of Sonny’s official debut, Gypsyhook EP, a variation of Bells was produced with an unknown title (fans have dubbed it Bells ‘09 EP.) Tracks like Copaface and Signal were completely reworked for Bells '09, and eventually reworked again for Gypsyhook. The known 2009 rework verisons can be heard below:
