Stand!, widely considered to be the peak of seminal soul/funk/psychedelia band Sly and the Family Stones' career, is largely about, as the title implies, standing up to the racial tensions that existed in 1960s America. This is hardly unsurprising coming from one of the first interracial bands in popular music history.
The album features “Everyday People,” the Family Stones' most well-known song, and is chock-full of great protest songs which are swimming with kaleidoscopic melodies and Sly’s lyrical prowess.
