1 is a compilation album by the Beatles, featuring their 27 number-one hits in the UK. Before the album, they were only available on CDs from the ‘80s. It was released on the 30th anniversary of the band’s breakup.

In the US, it debuted at number one with 595,000 copies sold. The next week, it went up to 662,000 but was knocked to number two by the Backstreet Boys‘ album Black & Blue. At one point in December of 2000, it sold 1,258,667 copies in one week, becoming one of the highest one-week sales events in SoundScan history.

1 was remastered and reissued twice, in September 2011 and in November 2015, with fully re-done stereo mixes by Giles Martin and Sam Okell at Abbey Road Studios.
