Morrison Hotel

The Doors

About “Morrison Hotel”

Released February 9, 1970 through Elektra Recordings, Morrison Hotel is the fifth studio album from rock legends The Doors. Morrison Hotel, also known as Hard Rock Cafè from the title of the first side of the LP, marked the band’s return to a more stripped-down approach after their heavily orchestrated previous album, The Soft Parade, and because of this return to their sonic roots, the album received much more critical acclaim compared to The Soft Parade which received mixed reviews. The album is characterized by a bluesy sound which they further explore in their follow-up album L.A Woman. The record peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the RIAA within weeks after it’s release.
