About “The Doors”

The self-titled debut album of The Doors, this is generally considered a landmark album in the psychedelic rock genre. The album was released January 4th, 1967 through Elektra Records. The album was a massive critical success, cementing The Doors as one of the greatest rock bands of all time. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, and was inducted in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress in 2015 based on it’s cultural, artistic, and historic significance.

“Break On Through” and “Light My Fire” were released as singles for the album, with the latter acting as their breakthrough single and achieving massive commercial success. The album reached number two on the Billboard 200 behind The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
