About “Myths of the Near Future”

Myths of the Near Future is the debut album of British Nu-Wave band Klaxons. It contains singles “Gravity’s Rainbow”, “Magick”, “Golden Skans” and “It’s Not Over Yet”.

Its name comes from “Myths of the Near Future”, a collection of science-fiction stories, which sets the page for the concept of the album.

The majority of the tracks on the album are named after 20th century books, and reference them heavily.

On its release, it was named NME’s Album of the Year (2007), and won the Mercury Prize of 2007. Debuting at #2 on the UK Albums Chart, it ended September 2011 with 340,000 copies sold, and is certified Platinum in the UK.
