Shaking the Habitual

The Knife

About “Shaking the Habitual”

Shaking the Habitual is The Knife’s fourth and final album, a highly experimental epic which moves away from the techno stylings of 2006’s Silent Shout. The album covers topics ranging from feminism to socialism, with special focus on anti-capitalist imagery. Aside from the artwork included with the album, which comments on ending “extreme wealth,” the band also released the Shaking The Habitual Manifesto to further explain their political views.

The controversial Shaking the Habitual Tour which accompanied the album’s release is also of note, as the band’s choice to use pre-recorded tracks for portions of the setlist was decried by some fans and critics.
