For Lovers Only

The Temptations

About “For Lovers Only”

For Lovers Only is the thirty-third studio album, as well as a cover album by American R&B group The Temptations. The album was released on September 26, 1995. This was the debut recording for new member Theo Peoples, who was recruited in 1993 and Ray Davis (of Parilament-Funkadelic), who, in his only appearance on the album, was bought in to record songs that regular member Melvin Franklin didn’t sing on. This was the final recording of original member Melvin Franklin, who was ill and later died before the album was released. It was also the final recording of Ali-Ollie Woodson, who was let go for the second and final time as a result of him suffering several bouts of throat cancer in 1996. For Lovers Only was reissued in 2002 with a bonus track: “Night and Day (Remix)”, as it was included on the soundtrack to the 2000 film, What Women Want.
