Reunion

The Temptations

About “Reunion”

Reunion is the twenty-sixth studio album by R&B group The Temptations. The album was released April 7, 1982 on Motown Records. Reunion marks the return of former lead singers of the group, David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks, as well as the only Temptations album to have seven members. The album would feature the hit single, “Standing On The Top” with label mate Rick James, whom he would use them as their background vocals for his 1981 hit, “Super Freak”. The group would hold the Reunion Tour, to support the album in April of 1982, however, group leader Otis Williams stated that the tour would not be a permanent thing, as David Ruffin, who was a cocaine addict at the time, has missed shows and cost the group thousands of dollars for each show he missed and Eddie Kendricks' falsetto has weakened due to smoking. Williams fired both Ruffin and Kendricks shortly in December 1982.
