About “Wish It Would Rain”

Wish It Would Rain is the seventh studio album by the Temptations, released on April 29, 1968, through Motown’s subsidiary label Gordy Records. The album was the Temptation’s last to feature David Ruffin, who was fired after the album’s release due to conflicts with the rest of the group. It would also be the last Temptations album to feature Smokey Robinson as a producer.

Commercially, the album peaked at #13 on the Billboard 200, and at #1 on Billboard’s Top R&B albums chart.

A total of three singles were included in the album: “I Wish It Would Rain”, “I Could Never Love Another (After Loving You)” and “Please Return Your Love to Me”, which peaked at #4, #13 and #26 on the Billboard Hot 100 respectively.
