In 2015, Flansburgh and Linnell spoke to Spin about their albums to that point. Here’s what they said about this album:

Flansburgh:

It might be the best album we’ve done in a decade. It wasn’t even designed to be an album. We actually recorded all the songs for the Dial-a-Song project. We pulled out the very best ones and put them together in a set and I think it’s just very, very good. I’m not sure what it would take to make people reassess or listen to us with fresh ears again. I recognize that this is no different than what Nikki Sixx would say about his latest record so you can file this under Old Guy Bullshit right before I even say it but I think it’s an impossibly strong record.
