About “Blue Note Re:imagined”

Blue Notes Records has teamed up with Decca Records for the sixteen track album of classical jazz, each reworked by trailblazing performers.

Along with the album announcement, the first single “Rose Rouge,” St. Germain’s 2000 track effortlessly covered by BRIT award-winning English singer-songwriter Jorja Smith, was released June 10, 2020. Upon the song’s release, a 7" vinyl was made available for pre-order that featured the album’s second single, “Footprints,” Wayne Shorter’s classic 1967 track covered by English band Ezra Collective.

A few weeks later, another 7" vinyl was made available for pre-order, with the discs including Poppy Ajudha’s cover of Herbie Hancock’s 1973 track “Watermelon Man” and Skinny Pelembe’s cover of Andrew Hill’s 1975 track “Illusion.”

An article by The Music revealed that Australian performer Jordan Rakei’s cover of Donald Byrd’s 1975 track “Wind Parade” will feature as the album’s fifth track, with a release slated for August 28, 2020.

The rework album will feature additional appearances from several rising performers, including Nubya Garcia, Yazmin Lacey, Fieh, and more.
