The official soundtrack album to the musical fantasy live-action/animated 1964 Disney film Mary Poppins, originally released on vinyl upon the movie’s first premiere. The movie is set in 1910 in England, so much of the music and songs from this film were written to fit the style and culture of that era.
The movie opened to resounding critical and financial success with critics calling it Walt Disney’s “crowning achievement” and, to this day, it the most Academy Award wins and nominations in Disney history with 13 nominations (including Walt Disney’s sole nomination for Best Picture) and 5 wins (including Best Actress for Julie Andrews, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song for “Chim Chim Cheree”).
