Summer Songs 2000

About “Summer Songs 2000”

Summer Songs of 2000 (also known as SS2K) is a collective title for songs that were demoed and performed live by Weezer during the summer of 2000. The amount that were recorded has never been confirmed, and some songs that were played live don’t have surviving recordings, but it’s safe to assume that there are at least eighteen SS2K songs. Some of these were repurposed for The Green Album or Maladroit, some of these were demoed for Make Believe early on but were scrapped, and some of these have never left 2000.

While the name “Summer Songs of 2000” applies to any song recorded in that time period, there was a somewhat official album release featuring 10 of these songs. Released on November 11, 2001 after a fan petition showed Rivers Cuomo that people wanted to hear these tracks, this version is considered to be the definitive “SS2K album”, but does not encompass all of the available tracks, and many songs are edited from the original demos.
