About “ORION”

ORION is the long-awaited second studio album by the American alternative rock band X Ambassadors, released on June 14, 2019.

In reality, the first writing and recording sessions of the ideal sequel of the 2015 debut project VHS started almost a year and a half before its publishing: the LP was initially titled JOYFUL, and the group even shared the potential title track on January 2018 as one of the singles, following “Ahead Of Myself” (last part of a prolific 2017 for the band) and followed by “Don’t Stay” in February and “Stolen Car” in March.

Then, a sudden change came: throughout the year, after having worked with the hip-hop and R&B singer Lizzo on her album Cuz I Love You, the trio decided to rewrite their second project by its basis. Probably, it was quite a fast process, as the lead single from ORION, “BOOM”, was released on January 2019.
The official announcement of the new album came on April, when “HEY CHILD” was released: finally, shortly before the album, the promotional single “HOLD YOU DOWN” was shared. In the end, ORION contained other nine new tracks, including a collaboration with the alternative rocker K.Flay.
