Fandango!

ZZ Top

About “Fandango!”

Fandango! is the fourth album by American rock band ZZ Top, published in 1975, it consist of selections from different live shows in the first side and the second side a full new studio records.

On 2006 a remastered expanded version of the record was issued.

The album title is a reference to a type of flamenco dance style.

Frontman Billy Gibbons said of the album:

The live capture wound up being in the can first. We had enough live material to make up one side of the disc, so we decided to go with the unusual move of making the album half live, half studio. It turned out to be a winning combination for us.

In the late 1980’s the album was re-issued in CD with a remixed mix, and the original 1975 mix was discontinued, causing controversy because the new mix changed the sound of all instruments, including drums, this remix was used in all CD issues for 20 years.

In 2006 was released the Expanded Edition of the album in CD with the original 1975 Mix.

And in 2009 was released a 180 gram Vinyl edition of the record, recorded using the original tapes of the album.
