To be admired, to be noticed
But when you're withdrawn, it's the closest thing
To assault when all eyes are on you
This will not do Lorde – Bravado

Lorde often speaks about how people need to connect to the child inside them more. She needs to remember that although she may have responsibilities now, she’d like to be less of an adult from time to time.
She is growing up, she just wants to have some independence so she can do what she wants, yet at the same time she wants to have the freedom so she can find out what she wants.
This could also come to mean when parents are divorcing or in a bad spot and fighting they say “what about the kid”, as in what will happen to the kid or what will we do with the kid.
This could also allude to parents who stay together for the sake of their kids. These parents believe that being in an unhappy marriage Is better for their child than a divorce, but many kids believe that living with unhappy parents is toxic and bad for their mental health.
This is a far more common in affluent families, as parents want to maintain the illusion of a happy marriage so people don’t think their family is broken. The idea that she is part of high society is backed up by Lorde being “punched” into elitist social clubs
