Probably the best vocal performance of the year but it’s a pretty underground song I guess.

Would love to see this come in for something like “Drive” but probably won’t happen.

Might be an unpopular opinion but tbh I prefer “What Do You Mean”.

I really love the hook and this position isn’t undeserved at all.

This is immensely beautiful and imo could be a #1 contender in another universe, but I think 27 is about right – don’t want the same few artists cluttering up the top of the list.

If we want to include rap for rap’s own sake, then let’s include something good.

We strongly considered The Night Took Us In Like Family and Surf, imo they’re both comfortably ahead of DS2. So is Summertime ‘06 and ALLA for that matter.

Others I would prefer to see: Towkio’s .wav Theory, Jay Prince’s BeFor Our Time, Czarface’s Every Hero Needs A Villain, Earl Sweatshirt’s I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside, Season by Leather Corduroys, Eat Pray Thug by Heems, Future Brown’s Future Brown, Joey Bada$$’s B4DA$$, and The Good Fight by Oddissee. I’d also much prefer Barter 6.

My answer is the same as dalmo’s, which just shows that it is right.

Here’s why time manipulation would be great:

You’d never mess up. You could just go back and do it again.

You could also take knowledge from the future and bring it to the past. For example, you could write the Booker Prize winner for 2020 in 2015… then keep doing so. You could game the stock market and become extraordinarily rich.

You could live each day multiple times, spending several of them just lying around in bed. On the last run through, you’d do all the things you had to do, perfectly.

The possibility for superhero shenanigans is also real, because you’d know when disasters would occur and could organise evacuations. You’d only need to do this a few times before being trusted completely by governments.

To the outside world, you would be perceived as a flawless human being with mastery over several skills. You’d also be able to do anything you wanted.

This is a reference to The Brothers Kamarov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. In it, a character tells a story of an old woman who, in an attempt to be spared an eternity in hell, says that her sole good deed in life was to give an onion to a beggar woman.

Bowie and Murphy first worked together on “Reflektor” by Arcade Fire. Bowie provided vocals, whilst Murphy produced the whole album.

Later, Murphy remixed “Love Is Lost”. That appeared on The Next Day Extra.

I’d love to see this at 5th.

In my suggestions so far, I’ve acted like the consensus is fairly firm, but maybe it isn’t so easy to determine.

Realistically, 8th or 9th?

I think this contains their best songwriting, but it doesn’t have as many moments of stardust that Teen Dream and Bloom had. It’s a little one-paced, too. Their best collection of songs, but not their best album.

I think #3 is fair. There is an incredible amount of beauty here. The negativity above is just because this is right at the top end of the list.
