86,400 seconds are in a day. Stating and repeating this fact gives more specificity to this otherwise taken-to-granted figure.

It also gives the seconds physicality. If they’re like coins in your hands, you might use them better.

Her lover is so strongly present in her thoughts he’s now even part of her bones, metaphorically of course. Her lover is essential to her emotional wellbeing, just like bone marrow.

This feeling makes her want to relive with her lover pre-fame memories, and hide in comfort from her new lifestyle.

It’s also noteworthy that the usage of “Hideaway” here may be a possible allusion to Daya’s debut single “Hide Away” since she later appeared as the vocalist on The Chainsmokers' follow up hit “Don’t Let Me Down”.

Like Miley said on “We Can’t Stop”, it’s their party. Brandon doesn’t necessarily fall into the girls' group, but he has to acknowledge it if he wants to stay around.

And this “thang”? It’s the booty again. He can’t help but get distracted by the twerkers.

Sometimes a parent will punish a child who said obscenities by putting soap in their mouth, in an attempt to rid them of such “dirty” language.

Martinez told Fuse:

In my life, this [song] is when I started talking to a new boy. It was really hard for me to explain or tell him how I felt, because I was scared of how he would react, so I just felt like I needed to wash out my mouth with soap, and constantly hide how I felt.

The song’s instrumental was heavily inspired by this concept — songwriter Emily Warren shared on her commentary playlist, “Write on Track”:

We were like ‘What if we make a drop that sounds like soap bubbles popping?’ And Kyle Shearer, the producer, was like ‘Oh, hell yeah!’ And so he crushed it and made a crazy beat and it turned into this song.

At this point, Kiiara is not waiting around – she has more respect for herself than to care about a guy who neglects her. Maybe later, he’ll realize he’s a total ass (or maybe not, since he’s a total ass).

Leaving without saying goodbye is a power move and here, Kiiara is in control. ‘Ghosting,’ ‘Irish Goodbye,’ and ‘French Exit’ are commonly used phrases to describe leaving unannounced and arguably the best way to leave a party, especially if you no longer care about the person you came to the party with.

“The party” could be also be a metaphor for his negligence and obliviousness at the end of their relationship. Sounds like he might have tried to pull a French exit on Kiiara– bad move, buddy.
