About Andy McCoy

Andy McCoy is a musician and songwriter most famous for being a co-founding member of Finnish glam rock band, Hanoi Rocks. He is a multi-instrumentalist, able to play guitar, piano and keyboards. Also an author, he penned his autobiography, ‘Sheriff McCoy: Outlaw Legend of Hanoi Rocks’, published in 2009.

Formed in 1979, Hanoi Rocks is considered by many to be the most successful Finnish rock band of all time. The group was highly influential on many rock bands to come out of the 1980’s, such as Guns N' Roses, Poison, Skid Rowe, and Motley Crue, among others. The group disbanded in 1985, shortly after the death of their drummer, Razzle (Nicholas Dingley) in 1984.

Andy McCoy was married to Angela Nicoletti (cousin of Johnny Thunders as well as ex-girlfriend of Izzy Stradlin) for twenty years.
