About Nick Drake

Nick Drake (1948-1974) was an English singer-songwriter, guitarist and musician. Drake achieved little commercial success during his lifetime, but in recent years has received much greater critical and popular appreciation. He is known for his husky vocal style and inventiveness in the use of cluster-chords and non-standard tuning. Drake’s final album, Pink Moon (1972), released two years before his death, contains many of Drake’s best-loved songs. After its release he became reclusive, suffering from depression, and never performed again. He died as a result of a prescription-drug overdose aged 26. It is unclear whether the overdose was intentional or accidental. Lines from his song “From The Morning” are inscribed on his gravestone: ‘And now we rise, / and we are everywhere.’
