Uniq Poet

Utsaha Joshi, better known by his stage name Uniq Poet is a Nepali rapper, from Bhaktapur. He started rapping at an early age by listening and writing raps. After releasing some songs he started following (late rapper) Yama Buddha who would eventually contact him after his home videos on Facebook fell under his radar then After Meeting Yama Buddha, he started battling in Raw Barz from where he initially received recognition through his Battle But later,
as the family pressure starts to rise, he took a hiatus from rapping and went to Australia to pursue a career in IT but came back since he felt like he should be doing music instead however upon completing his IT course he’d continue to rap. Yama Buddha helped Uniq become an established rapper through rap battles in Raw Barz.

On January 1, 2019, he announced his single, “1994”. Following the single, on February 13, 2019, he released second single, “Straight Outta”, from Bluesss debut album, Blue Up High, the song features MC Dave (a Danish rapper), the song comprehends of three languages, making it the most unique rap song in the context of Nepal.

In an interview with Kantipur, he stated that his music is influenced by artists such as J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Eminem, Jay-Z, MGK and Tupac, and wanted his music to convey a message more than anything else.
