About Soundtrack
The Soundtrack tag is dedicated to officially released original motion picture soundtracks or albums comprised of songs written or compiled for a piece of media—whether it be a movie, musical, TV show, video game, or book.
The first soundtrack album to be officially released was Songs from Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, back in 1938. It included all of the songs performed in the movie as well as two songs that were cut before the final release.
Since then, soundtracks have expanded to include songs that were performed within media, instrumental tracks composed for media, songs written by popular artists inspired by the media, and songs that were not written for the media but used in it. Soundtracks tend to be dynamic in their offerings, encompassing the emotion and sonic presence of their source.
