Daydream Lyrics
I can't turn the switch off causing my headache
So I'll daydream about you and I'll think happy thoughts
Before somebody sees me
Oh please, help me God
I head back to my car through the college campus
To fight off my brain and the monster's ruckus
About
“Daydream” is the sixth track off of “The Year in Hibernation” and, although it is lyrically quite short, it describes a complex theme of insecurity and anxiety, especially with regard to relationships with other people.
A lot of Trevor’s songs express his struggles with anxiety, and he has talked about how they inspire a lot of his songwriting. In an interview about his third album, Savage Hills Ballroom, Powers explained this link while talking about exercise:
It seems counter-productive, but I would drink red wine and get into this state where I was very absorbed by music. Then I would just go for runs. My mental state started getting into this brand new place where I still struggle with anxiety, but now I can channel that more towards my artistic endeavors.
