Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine

from Elvis Presley – Hound Dog Lyrics on Rap Genius

Meaning

These lyrics do not appear in Thornton’s original. They were added by Freddie Bell and the Bellboys in their 1956 version. Elvis' version of “Hound Dog” started as:

not as an attempt to cover Thornton’s record, but as an imitation of a parody of her record performed by Freddie Bell and the Bellboys. … The words, the tempo, and the arrangement of Elvis' ‘Hound Dog’ come not from Thornton’s version of the song, but from the Bellboys'."
