[Verse 2] Hey, I was trying to remember How bad it was then When you didn't have a friend When you didn't have a friend
Hey, everybody out there (Oh) Everybody out there Hey, everybody out there (Oh)
[Chorus] There but for the grace of God go you and I We're the brightest objects in the sky Remember, there but for the grace of God go you and I Do some good before you say goodbye
[Outro] Hey, everybody out there Oh, talk to me I can't hear you Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah Hey, everybody out there I know what it's like I know what it's like Everybody out there I can't hear you, I can't hear you Everybody out there

This song with its simple and shoutable chorus of OH’s was made for live performance! Paul even chose to name his 2013 to 2015 world tour in promotion of his album NEW “Out There,” presumably after the song. However, because audiences were unlikely to know the song, it was hard to get the necessary audience participation that the song deserved. Likely for this reason, the song was only played in a handful of shows on the Out There tour and was dropped from the setlist of subsequent tours.
