[Chorus] (Following) Pattern against user - dilated Bastard waiting for nothing (Following) Circus carny guarding The gates of heaven Like stuck in limbo abduction Wormed our way through Distant earth Wormed our way through Distant earth
[Chorus] (Following) Pattern against user - dilated Bastard waiting for nothing (Following) Circus carny guarding The gates of heaven Like stuck in limbo abduction Wormed our way through Distant earth Wormed our way through Distant earth
[Bridge] And if this clock keeps ticking away Will time be hesitated Of all the minutes that were taken away Will your watch be waiting Sand falls through Time portals These landfills We mortals And if this clock keeps beating down Let the branded time keep playing Of all the minutes that were taken away Will your watch be waiting
[Chorus] (Following) Pattern against user - dilated Bastard waiting for nothing (Following) Circus carny guarding The gates of heaven Like stuck in limbo abduction Wormed our way through Distant earth Wormed our way through Distant earth Wormed our way through Distant earth Wormed our way through Distant earth, hey!

“Pattern Against User” is the second track on Relationship of Command, At the Drive-In’s third full-length album, which was released in September 2000.
Although At the Drive-In’s lyrics were known to be cryptic, this is seemingly about drug use, possibly in-part about heroin. The heroin abuse of Cedrick Bixler and Omar Rodriguez was one of the reasons cited for the break up of the band in 2001, along with creative differences with the rest of the band.
