I Think That I Would Die Lyrics
He's stupid
I'm smarting
He's stupid
I'm smarting
[Chorus]
I want my baby
Where is the baby?
I want my baby
Who took my baby?
[Interlude]
Rose white, rose red
Rose up in my head
Rose white, rose red
[Verse 2]
Yeah, yeah
I want some
Yeah, yeah
There is none
[Chorus]
I want my baby
Where is the baby?
I want my baby
There is a baby
There is no milk!
There is no milk!
There is no milk!
There is no milk!
Rose white, rose red
Rose up in my head
Rose white, rose red
Oh! No!
[Bridge]
She lost all her innocence
Gave it to an abscess
She lost all her innocence
She said, "I am not a feminist"
It's not yours
Fuck you!
[Outro]
There is no milk!
There is no milk!
There is no milk!
There is no milk!
About
Kat Bjelland from Babes in Toyland, a long-time friend of Love, contributed to the writing of “I Think That I Would Die”.
The song is clearly about the legal battle that Love and her husband Kurt Cobain went through not to lose custody of their daughter Frances Bean.
Even though the lyrics don’t seem to specifically respond to it, it is notable that the whole controversy surrounding the couple’s – mostly Love’s – parental abilities was started by an infamous Vanity Fair article published in September 1992. The article featured various anonymous sources stating that Love was using drugs while pregnant, as well as other less arduous accusations. This started a huge media firestorm surrounding the parents-to-be and ultimately drawing the attention of child welfare services.
